Mogden Judgement

The Mogden Residents Action Group (MRAG) has asked me to post this update on your forum.Dear Residents Judgement on preliminary issues was handed down in the Mogden Group Litigation. The full  49 page Judgement can be found on the Hugh James Solicitors website.We attach the relevant links which will direct you accordingly.   The Judgement deals with 14 preliminary issues. The significant point for the Claimants is that the Judge has found that the Claimants may proceed with claims which are based on allegations that Thames was negligent in its operation and operational management of the Mogden Works. So the Judgement on preliminary issues was handed down by the High Court  and indeed makes interesting reading . After a decade of apathy from local Isleworth Cllrs too terrified to rock any political boats it just goes to show what communities can do under the leadership and guidance of  dedicated non political groups. I hope the efforts and dedication of MRAG Co-founders Cllr. Phil Andrews and the then 'new to the area'  Hanifa Dobson are appreciated by all. Their efforts have truly gone a long way in making Isleworth, Twickenham, St Margaret's ,  Brentford  and Whitton a better place to live for thousands whose pleas for assistance in holding Thames Water accountable were ignored  for so long  by those holding public office.  Never again must local communities allow those in political power to tolerate rich corporations to ride roughshod over those they purport to represent. Thanks too to those running community forums such as this which allows the voice of the people to be heard loud and clear.

We expect a hearing date to be set shortly to deal with various aspects of the judgement. It is proposed that a further case update will be issued following this hearing.Watch this space!

The stench from Mogden was very obvious last night, up here on Syon Hill.  I wonder how bad it was on the lower land, nearer to the sewage works ... ?  :-(

The Mogden Residents Action Group report severe stench yesterday and last night coupled with loud machinery noise. The machine noise, we understand, continued for most of today. It is presumed the plant suffered major malfunction again!!  MRAG has  asked Suresh Kamath, Director Environmental Services LBH, to investigate and Lead Member Cllr Barbara Reid has been informed.

Steve - Please tell Cllr Reid that the stench was very noticeable up here across her ward.  I had to shut my windows on one of the last nights it will be warm enough to leave them open.  It must have been exceptionally bad on the lower land.

Just to let you all know that Mary is now on the Communications list at Mogden and will receive an invite to Future meetings and is very eager to support local residents regarding Mogden.If anyone want to meet her and discuss Mogden or other issues please attend her Coffee morning next Thursday at the Bridgelink Centre on Ivybridge Estate.

Here We go AGAIN Folks!!!!I was asked to do something by the Chairman of MRAG and I did.I am NOT giving orders to the Conservative Party...Any Political Group who work for you are there to here your views and Concerns and how they can help the residents in there constituencie and As mogden is a HUGE problem in the area Mary is standing in to be MP she has a right to know about it and as Mary and I are Friends and i see and talk to her alot Mr Taylor emailed me to inform her of something which i did so get off your HIGH Horse.

Just to clarify - I am not the Chairman of MRAG. The Chairman is Dr Trevor Whittall (Richmond Borough).  I am however on the MRAG Committee and as such would have liked to attend Mary Macleod's coffee morning to express the concerns of residents regarding the current handling of the Mogden situation by both Thames Water and LBH. As I work full time I couldn't take time off so I e-mailed Mr Anderson (privately but via this forum) and asked him to put across certain issues at the meeting on our behalf. The issues are sensitive and as there is an ongoing litigation I didn't want to post them openly on this forum. I thank Mr Anderson for his efforts in bringing these issues to Mary's attention.

Mary Mcleod has indeed emailed me and we  hope to arrange a meeting soon.In the meantime regarding the Mogden Group Litigation I can advise there is a further Court hearing on the 26th of October where the Judge is expected to give further directions to progress the case following the decision on preliminary issues. It is expected that everyone involved in the Group Litigation will be given a full case update following the hearing.

Indeed quite an apt photo of Thames Water's Keith Gardner giving Mary Macleod a good lecture.  Its a pity Ms MacLeod didn't deem it appropriate, if not necessary, to have the residents she wants to represent accompany her to the lecture so she could glean information and views from both sides. The Thames Water / Residents quarterly meetings are usually a good forum for debate if not light entertainment where residents usually come away having had a good laugh at the transparent propaganda and marketing ploys.
