Monmouth Avenue, W5:  Ealing Borough or Hounslow?

The border lines between the London Boroughs..and the dividing line of the various Postcodes don't match sometimes and can cause a headache.For example the sprawling London Borough of Hounslow creeps intoHammersmith W6...(near Stamford Brook), and it also creeps into Acton W3 near Acton Town Station.The whole of that open space Gunnersbury Park is in Acton W3..but it all comes within "Hounslow Borough"Another surprise is that the Borough of Hounslow also creeps into Ealing W5 at the top of Clayponds Avenue.including both those blocks of Clayponds Gardens flats. There must be other examples to the west and south of the Borough or Hounslow.Now there's no problem with all that..but where confusion really exists is when there is a suspicion that Council's Street signs are incorrect. ""There are probably lots of these anomalies all over the place""Yes, the London Borough of Ealing spreads its wings a great deal..and cheekily creeps over a very large area of the Chiswick W4 postcode..north of the Underground. The Chiswick Forum often raises the matter.  It is a confusing subject...but as you say snob values may prevail!So far I've found two suspect street signs..and there could be more. Monmouth Grove is a mystery...but there might be a simple answer...eg the road sign is in Hounslow..but the houses are in Ealing!!

Before I got married I lived in W4 but we were in Acton in the Borough of Ealing but considered we were Chiswickians as we were much nearer Chiswick Park Station and the High Rd. This was in the days well before any snob value or property price hike according to the postcode. There are probably lots of these anomalies all over the place.

Yes it's Monmouth GROVE W5---------------------------Monmouth Grove is in Ealing W5 postal district. According to the Borough of Ealing website refuse is collected from that street by their dustmen on Mondays. So there's no doubting ..it's Ealing W5 and EALINGHowever the street sign shows the London Borough of Hounslow!!  Why??-----------------------------------------------------------This next example of Hounslow Borough creeping into Acton W3 is understood..and there's no query with the street sign..but it does look an oddity!------------------------------------------------------Now moving over towards Hammersmith W6, we see this at Stamford Brook Green:Agreed, nothing wrong with that..it's just a surprise!------------------------------------------------------But just down the road..there is a mini howler..I mean you don't expect to see incorrect street signage do you?Vaughan Avenue is definitely in Hammersmith W6 postal district..so the sign is wrong.  Silly things keep me amused!!------------------------------------------------------I'll report them on that Community Notification website..if I can find it!Any odd signage down your way?
