Manchester PCSO`s watch young lad drown

I could not believe my eyes when I read this story and its became a dreadful world when some would rather save their jobs then a childs life.I think we should all start questioning what training our local PCSA`s recieve just in case something like this occurs here.I do think our local PCSO`s do a wonderful job and service in our community and we should not of course tar them with the same brush as these two Manchester cowards.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/7006412.stm

Mr Williams,I thought I had made my apology quite clear in my last posting but as you seem to want to make something out of this then please carry on!Have you watched the video from the BBC Website of the young lads Mums grief?This is one subject at least all of us should not try and gain the high ground?

This to me is typical of the way people rush to judgment these days. The PCSOs seem to have behaved entirely correctly and have been on the wrong end of unjustified abuse from a grieving mother and a cravenly opportunistic Police Federation. Yet people who weren't there, have no direct knowledge of the facts can't wait to tell us that they would have been the hero of the hour had they happened to be walking by at the time.

I agree.  To describe people as cowards on the basis of a brief news report without knowing the full facts is not what I expect from Paul.

On the radio news coming home it did say that senior Police officers had defended two PCSOs who'd chosen to call for back-up rather than jump in to save the boy, and quite often these things tend to change as more info. comes out - so I don't think you caused offence. These things are judgement calls and could easily have cost more lives if untrained people had interfered, as none of us were there and don't know the complete situation it's probably not fair to judge.

I thought about what I might do under the same circumstance and as a fair swimmer I think I might have stayed on the bank as there was no sign of the boy and said lake is supposed to be quite deep, also in May the water would of been very cold causing the body to slow down and breathing would have been getting harder, as there was no sign of him a person going in could have got into difficulties themselves, had he been visible I think I would have jumped in to try and save him. It still does not make things any easier for the parents.

If you look on the BBC news web site it says that they did not let the boy drown. Just to let you all know they could be innocent of all allegations I don't want a row!

Is this not heartbreaking for everyone involved?Swimming and the strength of a persons ability to swim is so very personal.If these officers could swim, then the hardest thing they probably will ever be faced with was having to stand and follow their training and not dive straight into unknown water, where they had not witnessed the boy going down.

Paul2mths ago a flat 2 doors up in out street got Burgled then our communal front door lock was tampered with around 4times, i reported it to a certain Police office based with the Isleworth SNT and the person has promised 4 times to come and take statements from the residents in my block but 4 weeks have gone by and no one has turned up do we have to be robbed before we see someone?
