Street Cleaning

Just thought I'd mention that we had a team of street cleaners around here yesterday, and very good they were too. The streets looked really clean and free from debris, weeds etc.Very impressive.

EDS provides the service and LBH has a monitoring role as I understand it.

Strange it is....... because if one complains or communicates about street cleaning and rubbish collection one gets heaps of correspondence  from the office of:  Suresh KamathDirector, Street Management and Public ProtectionLondon Borough of HounslowSigned by:  Community Environment Team 0208 583 5070 If you phone the number its clearly LBHI am not  sure where  EDS fit into the equation and I don't really care as I pay my taxes to London Borough of Hounslow!!!!

Strange........as it's EDS responsible for street cleansing, street care only monitor the service, but nationally Hounslow wasn't doing too well apparently. Although a lot of us would and do clear up any rubbish ourselves if we see it - after all it isn't too much to ask is it?

Same goes for the litter pickers who come around the day after the bin men.I now and again ring their office to ask them to pass on my thanks for cleaning up.Go out and offer them a cuppa too if I see them.

I am aware that several residents have had reason to complain at the highest level so possibly the Street Management and Pollution Dept have been taken to task.  About time!

Have you invited any po-litical persons for a tour of your area, Vanessa?  :-)We found, in advance of our tours, that there was very dutiful attention given to the cleanliness of the streets.  Might this 'flurry' of activity, be a clue to something happening, shortly?During the tour I mentioned the street cleaning to our visitors, who enjoyed our mirth.The best attention was afforded in advance of Mary Macleod's visit - plus a number of the 'most-difficult-to-wander-across' slabs were quickly mended before she made her, what could have been trip, to the area.:-)
