New Houses to be torn down
Although this story in the Chronicle this week is about new houses going up in Isleworth and having to be torn down because their positioning was amended by the developers and not ratified by planning I thought people should know that in this instance the Council and Councillors can feel extremely pleased with themselves. In fighting this developer's wantonness we are effectively laying down the gauntlet at every developer's door. If they think they can get away with something they will try it on. Only through the community and Council's vigilance are we going to protect our borough. These developers are going to have to demolish some of what they started to build. What we should do, is set massive penalties against each infraction. I reckon £5 million, yes, million on each infraction should get them to tow the line. Nothing like 'eating their profits' to ensure a development follows the outline and full planning stages.
