Eileen,The question about additional parking spaces for the conference centre should be put to members of the previous administration. It was the last Labour administration that built this at a cost to the local tax payer of £4000000. They had no business plan for it and no idea what it was to be used for, other than the occasional (Asian) wedding.I agree that even without the addition of the conference centre the car parking facilities are somewhat limited. Often when attending a full council meeting my wife has trouble parking, even though as a councillor, she is supposed to have a parking space. If you think that there are 60 councillors, so lets say 45 cars for a full meeting. The members parking area has room for about 15, at a pinch. That means that 30 councillors cars are using the public car park before any member of the public gets a look in.I expect that there is room to add additional spaces within the grounds, however the cost of laying new spaces would, I suspect, far outweigh any revenue that could be recouped within an acceptable time. Although in the long term it would be good to expand the parking, I for one, would rather my Council Tax went on improvements elsewhere in the borough, such as roads, pavements and services for young people.
