The New England Bar & Restaurant

I am getting very worried about the number of kids hanging around the boarded up New England Bar and Restaurant.  I have seen teenagers climbing up to try and gain access.  If they manage to get in they could be seriously injured as I am sure the place must be falling down inside. I am sure there should be signs up saying 'DANGER - CONDEMMED BUILDING'Also yesterday, I saw a man of about 23 years old up a ladder ripping all the lead off some of the roofing. When he was approached he said that he was the nephew of the owners. (Which no way was he as the owners are Indian and he definetly was not)  Is there anyone to contact with regards to getting the New England more secure. Not only for the above, but also to stop the little S*!*s covering the whole building with Graffiti!Thanks,Fran

I've noticed that this corner of Brook Road North is beginning to look quite an eyesore..with masses of graffiti on the fencing facing the Great West Road.Break ins and stealing the lead roofing only adds to the misery. Hopefully the Police and others at the Civic Centre will see this thread.At a recent Hounslow Borough Police Consultative Group meeting, a Brentford Sector report referred to the Library Roofing problem:""Ashton Bynoe reported a spate of incidents in the Brentford and Isleworth areas where lead was stripped from rooftops. Brentford Library had to be closed recently because the stripped lead had allowed the roof to leak. When asked whether local officers were acting to tackle this particular crime, Supt. Phipps confirmed that officers were aware of some instances of lead stripping but assured members that this crime had not reached epidemic proportions. It was a known fact that the perpetrators tended to drive from one building to another gathering lead. These individuals were normally caught through good community intelligence, CCTV and forensic policing and by stopping and checking vans on the borough’s roads. Ch. Supt. Bilson added that he could look into the matter to assess the extent of....""The Acton W3 Forum has also been reporting scalleywags pinching lead from the roof of the town's main Church.One wonders whether someone should be checking out the vehicles arriving at the major Brentford (and region) scrap yard at the top of Transport Avenue TW8 where convoys of laden vehicles currently arrive..keen to get a quick cash payment.

CRONIES Kevin?...I have a lot of friends in the building trade and they reliably inform me that the practice of stripping derelict buildings of copper by so called "Travellers" has been going on for quite a while.And with the price being so high at the moment it has been on the increase...And it certainly wouldnt be me I dont like heights !!!!

Someone stripped the Libaray roof of lead earlier this year and we have had to pay for the repairs

I think you might find Fran that the price of copper has quite litterally gone through the roof recently..thousands of pounds per ton. There have been cases of travellers breaking in to derelict buildings stripping them of all the copper and selling it for scrap recently.
