I wonder if Cllr Thompson  tell us what Culmany is

I was looking up on the web for the word culmany and could not find a good explanation of the word except in Catholic web-sites but evan these do not give a good acount for the word then I thought may be the glorius leader of Hounslow ( I a mere mortal should kneel and say a hail tory) well he is a Teacher may he would know and a catholic one from what I here may be he could let me know..

I saw a programm the other night with Dave Gorman a 2 hour comedy where Dave Gorman ends up travelling the globe in this strange quest before his 32 second birthday..I wnt say anymore but its a programm thats worth watching.The Idea of the game is to use 2 words and place them in the google search engine and a find a site that has both words on the page and it must be the only page to contain the 2 words.....and thats a googlewack....Of course this has nothing to do with the word I am looking for..its just a good programm and very funny....Translation for Phill "RED Commies are taking over TV and using google to spread the red peril what will the Local labour party think of next"

Thanks to Jim and Vanessa I got the right spelling for the word as well as an explanation, I can not find my big oxford dictionary..yes I do have one but is somwhere in the 6.500 thousand books that I have...I kept looking on the internet with my speeling and kept hitting loads of catholic web-sites and intrestingly may spelling is also to be found on islamic sites as well...

Boo hoo boo hoo Andrews the bullies are picking on me again..If you cant come up with anything the first thing you do is to have a go at my dyslexia, a problem you have been aware that I have for the last up-teen years or more you are a sad sack of somthing oderous...You responded to this thread nobody bullied you, did you have any words of wisdom NO...Now to come crying that the disabled kid kick you....

I'm sorry Dave, but playing the dyslexia card does not wash in the age of the internet.If you have bad eyesight and you need to drive a car then you will put on a pair of spectacles, or insert contact lenses.  If spelling is your weakness and you want to engage in debate with other users of an internet forum then you use a spellchecker.  Not to do so is lazy, arrogant and disrespectful to those whose misfortune it is to have to decipher your outpourings.You come across to me like a child who kicks somebody in the playground and then tells the teacher when his victim kicks him back.  Please do not engage in attacks on others and then plead disability when they respond.You are not the only poster who resorts to the tactic of abusing others and then playing the victim when they defend themselves, it is only fair to add.

Dyslexia and you do know this...but a least I knew what the word means, the only problem was finding the word in dictionary and on the net..whats your excuse....

DavidI'm not being wicked but I am in bits at the thought of you looking up words in your dictionary and scratching your head, perplexed by their absence.While you have the book open, look up "comming", "stiches", "blaken", "memeber", "unsual" and "enlightment" and tell us what you find...

Hi JimI dont do the web-sites you would have to ask Dave Keen, the only involvement I have had in the last couple of years is giving web-space for them on my servers. I tend to be to busy doing other things i.e the music, which I must say hopefully fingers crossed I have another new local band that are fantastic and are going to do well.

Thanks Vanessa, I knew I must of got the spelling wrong as it kept comming up in Catholic web-sites hence Thompson being a Teacher he might know what the word is, Jims contribution had me in stiches, does this man really believe what he writes.The word is an old word I could not find it in any of my dictionaries, its use has been within political circles where as you have pointed out it is the action of using false information to defame libel traduce blaken an opposition memeber in order to make political capital.I find it a wonderful word and an unsual one, I am sure others would agree with me on that.I sure it is also a word we may here more of as well, so in this age of political enlightment lets here it for the word Calumny.

VanessaYou worked with Mr. Hughes as a colleague for several years and therefore probably have a better understanding of what he is trying to say than most of us.  Would you be able to help us out here?Is this just a spelling issue or is there a witty punchline which we should all be awaiting?

Calumny...that's more like it! (not that I knew)Another dictionary says adds  "The malicious utterance of false charges or misrepresentation"David: To whom was the word being directed ...is a thought that comes to one's mind?

Is the word calumny? If so  the dictionary definition is: a false accusation, malicious slander - libel. To defame, vilify, libel, asperse, traduce, blacken.

I agree with you David that the "glorius leader of Hounslow" is glorious!Seeing Peter Thompson's recent activities on the Civic Centre webcam..and in the local Press..his mental workload would appear to be quite staggering. We are very lucky to have such a Leader in our midst! Culmany is not a term one hears. It's not in the dictionary I use. Perhaps he made the word up!Talking of unusual spellings what's happened to that Brentford and Isleworth Labour Party website that was launched earlier this year?  www.bandi.labour.co.uk
