Norwegian Kids' club - this Sunday in Chiswick

Krokodille-klubben will be holding its 4th fortnightly session of Norsk tuition and playtime for young children this weekend.  Parents can enjoy coffee and a chat, or, if you are learning Norsk yourself you can join in with the tuition.  Dates:  Sunday 18 Nov, 2 Dec, 16 decTime:   10am - middayteacher:  Silje Ryykjelocation:  Upstairs at Trinity Cafe (6 shops to the right outside Turnham Green Tube)parking:  PlentifulCost:  £5 per child / £2.50 per sibling

Oh Finland at last! If we go further East we'll finish up in Vyborg and that will get the ladies excited for another trioka trip (Put Vyborg in Forum Search)Next Thursday, Friday and the weekend the Finns will be having their Xmas Bazaar in Albion Street, Rotherhithe..and the crowds are such that they use the Town hall next door as well. A most atmospheric event.The Church is contained with a larger structure..which has a cafe,Library,and residential accommodation. Nonetheless, you could always have a sauna after the choir's performance!I do enjoy matters Scandinavian..and Estonian,& Latvian etc. Anyone else into these things?

I found out on Wednesday that there is a sing I'll probably go to at the Finnish Church, Rotherhithe in February. Looking at the website I was surprised to see that the church has a sauna. Can't be many of them around in UK ! But  apparently the church has lots of hard wooden surfaces with few textiles to absorb the sound - so we hope to raise the roof.My wife spent a week with her friend living in Stavanger a few years ago. Friend had been granted a driving licence on the grounds that she came from Scotland "where they had snow" and had thus avoided the snow-driving courses. She regretted it as a few mm of slush in Edinburgh hardly prepared her for white-out conditions between eight foot banks of snow on mountain roads.I also liked the idea of people spending their weekend routinely X-country skiing 15 to 20 miles to spend the night in ski-refuge huts in the middle of nowhere , returning the following day and thinking nothing of it......

Me and my wife are both norwegian and live in Brentford.Never heard of that club before, so thanks.There are about 10.000 norwegians living in London.Many of them live around Wimbledon, where they walk the streets on May 17th, our national day (norwegians celebrate this day big style).It's Grieg btw, not Greig :)

Hello Jim.I feel honoured to have had one of my postings graced by your graphic input!  Very clever.  I am a bit of a norsk-o-phile myself, in case you hadn't guessed.  I think there are about 4,000 Norwegians in London.  It is a cool country  (in all senses) with great people.One of he amazing things about our little kiddy gathering is just how multicultural it has been...we have had Norsk/Thai, Norsk/Nigerian, Norsk/Spanish as well as the unsurprising combos: Norsk/Norsk and Norsk/English children.By the way, the Norwegian Seaman's Church in Rotherhithe's website is:  www.sjomannskirken.no/london.ttfn

Welcome to the Brentford Forum!Norwegian?  One thinks of the music of Greig, the magic of the  fjords, and the enthusiastic flag-waving of their fans at Ski events.Are there any Norwegians in TW8? Has anyone reading this been to Norway? You collected their postage stamps?..well that's something. They like the cold too! ;0)I've met quite a few Norwegian people in Rotherhithe,south east London..where the Norwegian Church is located (and the Finnish one too).  They have most colourful and vibrant Xmas Bazaars..with hot mulled drink and fat sausages!  I believe that there is a Bazzaar at the Church this weekend,,check the website..perhaps.We like the Nordics don't we?  There are probably many thousands in Greater London. I believe that there are 20,000 Finns as well. Great honourable people.
