Waste at the Civic that they could of recycled

One of the many things that I do is run a community hall it is with such shame that the Civic Centre in Hounslow decided to throw away all the brand new carpet tiles from the supposed new community rooms at the Civic into a skip outside, most of the tiles I saw had no damage and let me say this again NO DAMAGE...Running one of the many community Halls in Housnlsow we are always begging for carpet tiles and other such stuff in order to make our communinty halls welcoming...most of the community Halls like ours gets no funding from the council or help they only time we see council officers is when they want more money from our depleted resource,What do we see when we go to the Civic yet more waste from the Tories, cant be bother to find out that you can recycle old carpet which goes into making new carpets, cant be bothered to find out if a community group could use the old tiles and in this case not old at all tiles...Before Cllr Andrews makes his sulky comments no I did not have transport or I would of been in that skip like a shot to get them tiles...Also what are those pathetic posters in the Civic about "say no we love Hounslow" nobody I spoke to had a clue and my suggestion of what it means must be say no to Tories was met with all round applause evan the staff agree....

JimIt is area that could be looked into, many times in the past couple of years when I was on my feet fully many local international firms would change offices around and give the old stuff to community groups on a number of occasions when we could get transport we would store the stuff in one of our old Labour Halls then find community groups to distribute the furniture to.Now it does not take much imagination on the councils part in uderstanding the needs of community groups who could do with furniture...But as you can see this bunch have nothing to offer accept abuse...

JimIt was an Executive decision, taken after several hours of deliberation in consultation with the Chief Executive.  Obviously we all knew that Dave Hughes wanted the carpet tiles for his community centre, but we voted to throw it out all the same just to annoy him.

David,Wouldn't it be Civic Centre staff,chargehands, foremen, Assistent Supervisors, Assistant managers, Managers, and Directors of Departments who would make decisions about disposal of redundant furnishings?As a Councillor in the past, would your presence at the Civic Centre for meetings  also entail looking at furnishings being throw out?
