Hi Tim Glad you enjoyed your ride through Clayponds,it is nice isn't it? I walked the length of it a couple of weeks ago at about 8.30am and was surpised (and pleased) to see just how many people walk from Brentford to Ealing...excellent! Now BMP,usually if you knock down a brick wall to just below the surface, the ground above it is dryer than the surrounding area, that usually means that the grass is undernourished and lighter, you can see the effect near the tree roots. If it was a wooden building, maybe an orangery, glasshouse or tennis court, and they left the foundations in,over time that would compost down and feed the grass above it,making it lusher.(I think!) A thought occured to me in the night, that it may just be a soak-away/lawn watering system, the house does have a fast water catchment area which would need to go somewhere? Lets hope Janet and or Nigel can give us the answer.
