Snowing in Kew

Joan,You said you wanted pictures of snow in Kew, well I went for a walk in Kew Gardens this afternoon and it was snowing:....well, not the real stuff, but manufactured in a 'snow dome':The kids were loving it.Next to this dome are the pointed tops to the shop, they look like Arab nomad tents:Walking from Kew Gardens across Kew Green, St Anne's church, looks so peaceful:And take a look at the old chimneys of the houses on Kew Green, one has smoke drifting from it:Over Kew Bridge looking East is the beautiful Strand-on-the-Green:Looking the other way the Steam Museum tower acts as sentinel over the entrance to Brentford and home:

Duncan, I got so excited when I saw "Snowing in Kew"! A Snow Dome, how interesting. But not as good as the real stuff. I would love one more White Christmas. It's not the same here in Oz, it's always hot at Christmas. Thank you for cheering me up. Here's hoping you get lots of presents for Christmas. RegardsJoan.

When I used to go as a child, it was little more than a large park with a hot house & lake.  We used to go for walks & take a picnic.  I took my daughter there many years ago & it hadn't change much.

At about £35 a year for a season ticket Kew Gardens is excellent value. In recent years there have been some stunning exhibitions at the gardens - the Chihuly glass was breathtaking. The season ticket is the best money I spend all year. Even in summer there are some quiet secluded areas where you seem a million miles from the hustle and bustle of city life and apart from the beautiful plants and trees there is an abundance of wildlife if you look closely.We are lucky to have this facility so close to us.

A years ticket works out quite cheap around £20 I suppose.  I know that's expensive to the entry fee 20 years ago but it's good value compared to other attractions.I see Kew is soon to have a raised walkway through the trees - I believe it starts below ground level around the roots then with lift and steps goes to tree level for quite some distance.

Thanks for the photos Duncan.  I used to go to Kew Gardens a lot & it was free entry then, sadly it is so expensive now.
