Item from the Richmond and Twickenham Times web site which appears to be the same incidentElderly woman in hospital after being hit by carBy Colleen McDonnellCommentA 70-year-old woman is recovering in hospital after being hit by a car as she crossed a Brentford road on New Year's Eve.The woman, who has not been named but who is believed to be from the Brentford area, was crossing Ealing Road at the junction with Brentford High Street near the McDonald's at about 3.45pm on Monday when she was hit by a Rover 420 hatchback.Brentford High Street was closed between Ealing Road and Kew Bridge for four hours as officers from Hampton Traffic Garage, which usually deals with fatalities, attended the scene.advertisementPolice said she was struck by the window of the passing car.The elderly woman was taken to West Middlesex Hospital with severe hip, pelvis, arm and shoulder injuries.An officer who attended the scene said it is believed she is to make a full recovery.Brentford High Street and Kew Bridge Road re-opened at 8.30pm after four hours of traffic chaos which sent buses and cars on diversion on one of the busiest nights of the year.The case has been handed over to the Traffic Serious Case Work Unit in Kent.Anyone with information should call 020 7230 4995.
