Traffic Delays in Isleworth ahead

I have just received this e-mail from the Civic Centre which may be helpful to some on here.Dear All We have been advised that National Grid Transco will be undertaking emergency repairs to a gas main at the junction of A315 London Road and St John's Road starting from 9:00am tomorrow (5 January 2008).The location of the repairs will necessitate the switching off of the traffic signals at the junction and the provision of temporary 3-way traffic signals, operating on 2 phases (both directions on London Road followed by St John's Road). Due to the need for the St John's Road traffic to proceed on the wrong side of the traffic islands the temporary traffic signals will be set back some 40m from the current position. Due to this increased distance between stop lines delays are likely on all approaches. London Buses have been informed of the potential for delays.National Grid estimate that works will take a minimum of 2-days and anticipate to be finished by Wednesday 9 January at the latest. I would agree that Vanessa is an asset to this forum.  I have no qualms about dishing it out to her because she gives it out herself.  People give me a hard time and I accept this as the price of being outspoken.  I guess Vanessa is in the same boat.I'm not sure that Vanessa would attend a gathering at which lesser beings from the Community Group were welcome, but she might surprise us.  I will happily stand her a drink if she does.

Is it now a crime to refuse to tolerate fools who get in the way of us living an aggravation free life? You and your ICG chums may well believe everything you are told, some of us are more cynical. I really don't see that 'my language' as you put it is any better or worse than anyone else's. I do not like political correctness, or all this trendy speak of  visions and mission statements and values, and thankfully I have now reached the age where I really don't give stuff what you or anybody else thinks, please or offend.

Please do not shoot the messenger but I have received this e-mail.........Dear All Further to my original email I have been provided with the following update. Unfortunately the works have been delayed because the gas main is a large jointed main and in order to repair it it required the use of a sealant which takes time to dry. The contractor originally asked for an extension until Monday to allow for the reinstatement of the carriageway. We have requested that they use an alternative material to reduce the time taken and we now expect the works to be completed by the end of the day on Friday 11 January.Regards

I usually go that way to make bank deposits at Barclays on the corner of St John's Road...but thankfully I don't seem to have received any cheques for ages! ;0(

Definately an area to avoid I think. Let's just hope that they leave the road surface in a better state than further up in Brentford.

Thanks for that - it'll be really lovely come Monday especially with the kids going bck to school - but things like this have to be done so we'll just have to grin and bear it. Thank Heaven I don't have to go that way to work anymore!
