The New Multilingualism

On Saturday an old sailor on the top deck of the 237 bus recounted how the previos day in a job interview for a warehouse post he'd been told it was a requirement to speak both Polish and English.  I wonder how our younger generation are going to cope with that environment.

As my son's class is a 3rd Polish (he's 5) and he seems to have developed a nice balance of rubbish Polish / English as a result, pretty well I suspect

I wanted to employ someone who spoke and wrote English, but once you bought up the correct way to use a semi-colon, they were out the door, rather like the off side rule - eh!

Well listening to some of them they'll struggle with comprehendable English never mind anything else!
