Goodo! there's going to be another Festival this year.. 7th September I'm told by Linda Massey..so that's something to look forward to.Isn't it a fantastic event.. thousands and thousands attend it?It's a Brentford success story. If you are interested in giving a hand on the Organising Committee, perhaps let Linda know..I expect she'll be posting something about the event soon. Other help is needed too.. read on!!It really is a fab Park and is very popular. If you type Boston Manor into the search box you'll find links to previous threads..and lots of pictures too! Those huge trees and that 400 year old Mansion and have you been inside? That avenue underneath the M4 and the views of the GSK building. Then the pond and all that wildlife!Janet MacNamara is the historical expert attached to the House.

This is just the kind of material we need for our Brentford mapping project Jim. Why not come to one of the workshops at Watermans and bring some of your impressions of Brentford with you (the 1st one is this Saturday at 1pm) or you can upload them onto the project website www.publicbiopsy.net

It was so lovely to see your pictires of the park. I spent so many of my childhood days playing there .The swings have been replaced by a car park I see.How we never drowned playing down by the canal I will never know.

I second Gerry's comments Maria, welcome. I miss communicating with Ann, it was always a pleasure to receive an email from her in the "inbox"!

Welcome Maria! Your mother Ann(bless her) was a good friend and poster on this and other west london neighbourhood forums - we miss her contributions over the years. Nice to see an Allridge member posting again. Welcome and thanks. ;-)

I have been a bit busy of late and had to be reminded tonight to look at your excellent posting Jim. For clarification though, the money raised through the cafe is for the benefit of the park and not Friends of Boston Manor. Our current projects are to refurbish the tennis courts and put in a young persons putting trail on the disused Bowling Green. There is hope that all money needed can be raised within the next three months. On the Festival front, I will indeed be posting a date for the first meeting of the organising committee and interested parties but not for a few days yet. Always difficult to choose a date that suits all. Watch this space.

"Nice to see the park looking tidy, shame that the old cricket pitches & pavillion which used to be down by the allotments next to the canal are now gone."There could possibly be some good news coming shortly Kevin.

Had a quick run around there yesterday. The car park was nearly full with people either walking their dogs or visiting the cafe. There was also a couple of kids football matches taking place so it was quite busy.Nice to see the park looking tidy, shame that the old cricket pitches & pavillion which used to be down by the allotments next to the canal are now gone.
JimI work 7 days a week unsure when I could fit this in bump

Wakey, wakey.Nip to the park, have a walk, take the children to the swings, see the wildlife, admire Clitherow's mansion..and pop into the cafe and relax! It's all for a good cause. Yours and theirs!!

I popped into the Park last Sunday at 4pm plus...to see what's what..and gosh the car park was quite busy!-------------------------------------------------------------Look at those busy flower beds.. in January! People wandering around, the children's play area busy...but I was hoping that the cafe was open still!!---------------------------------------------------------There was hardly a table free!! The cafe seems so popular. And linda was working her socks off. All profits are for the FoBM. Well rewarded for my 100 metre walk..I managed to have the last portion of bread pudding with my hot tea..and I'll return soon.!----------------------------------------------------------The cafe is open every Saturday and Sunday from 9am till 4pm ish..and is most attractive and interesting. Linda mentioned that volunteers are being sought to help open the cafe during the week.. so if you want to join a merry band of FoBMs (Friends of Boston Manor park) just stepforward. They have a website.
