Brentford Festival 2007 Sunday 7th September 2008

We have finally sorted a date for the first Brentford Festival 2008 Organising Committee meeting (Tuesday 12th February at 7.00 p.m.in the Pavilion Cafe in Boston Manor Park).  It has been difficult to get all those that have already offered their help to choose a mutually convenient date hence the short notice.  If you want to be involved in the committee you will be more than welcome to come along at 6.30 p.m. where we will be serving a hot supper to get us warmed up for the meeting start at 7.00p.m.  For those that wish to help outside the committee ...more another time.

At this stage I have to say that we have not had any direct formal discussions with anyone - only because we have been tying up a number of loose ends.  We intend to ask for "an audience with Hounslow Council" soon, before the contract is awarded, to seek reassurances about our future.

I am involved with a Friends group at Dukes Meadows and we are wondering what the impact of the new contract will be. We thought that, in view if the amount of work Friends groups do, we would have had some kind of reassurance, consultation about the process, but we have had nothing. Have you had any contact from anyone Linda?

Assuming that the new contract will run from 1st July we doubt whether anybody new will be interested in getting involved just 8 weeks before the event.  This is why we are steaming ahead on our own.We would love to be proved wrong though.

It will be interesting to see what support this event gets from the company that finally wins the parks/libs/pools contract.

The first meeting of the Brentford Festival went very well and individuals have been assinged tasks.  For the day we are looking for an army of marshalls/stewards/general helpers as we will not have the support of CIP (sadly their contract has not been renewed) who have always put so much time and effort into this event.  Do you fancy yourself in a high viz jacket, or with litter picker in hand - possibly even a walky talky?  We would love to hear from you. We are determined to be ahead of the game and ask you to fill your diary now!

How could one not go along to show support at that first Committee Meeting?  The Brentford Festival is the greatest event in the Town's calendar..attracting crowds of some many many thousands!I decided to go along as I was nearby and travelling home along the Great West Road from work.. and within five minutes found myself at the Park Cafe, in Linda's company, sitting down with a plate of Lasagne and a drink..and I'd only said "good evening"With a series of successful Festivals already achieved under their belts the group of six were experienced and knew what had to be discussed and reviewed. Other key helpers are in the wings ..so to speak..but more help is required.Contact Linda if you want to know more.Bob: you shouldn't miss this years!  More details will be posted soonest. Linda is the Conductor..and she orchestrates a fine tune!Here is a picture from two years ago:

AndrewThis Festival must be one of the biggest events in the Brentford calendar..with 4000 -5000 and more people attending..and there have been many pictures posted on these threads over the years.You should have a stall to promote your organisations! If notjoin me in the kitchen doing the washing up!
