Brentford - our local football club

I'll put my cards on the table from the off - I am a Brentford Football Club Season Ticket holder and have been for over a decade.However, if you are a lapsed Brentford fan who left because of our performances under Terry Butcher, then I recommend that you get your self back down to Griffin Park as soon as possible.  Under Andy Scott's management, we are witnessing the greatest comeback since Lazarus and the football is a joy to watch.  Oh, yes, and we keep winning.If you have never visited Brentford, I can assure you it is a friendly, welcoming place and you will have an enjoyable day out.  Our crowds hover around the 4500-5000 mark so there won't be any danger of your being crushed in a crowd of 60,000+.  Griffin Park, the stadium, is a bit shabby and you'll have to avoid some puddles if it's been raining and probably queue for the loos at half-time.  But believe me, you will be more than compensated for those minor problems with the amosphere and the sheer accessibilty of the place.If you would like more details about the Club, then visit the official site here http://www.brentfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Welcome and don't forget to visit the best fans forum on the internet, The Griffin Park Grapevine here http://www.griffinpark.org/.If you have always wanted to go to a football match but have been put off by extortionate ticket prices, the hassle of getting there or the crush of people, head to Griffin Park.  My Dad and I would be happy to meet you there and we won't boo if you want to leave at half-time.

Hello We just bought the ticktes for that match....We are looking forward to watch it....It is our first BrentfordFC Match......i've been to the store and it is quite impressive considering it is a not Premier league Match....See you there

Just typing these words means I run the danger of activating the BFC Curse which will see us plunge down the League Table and out the other end to the Conference - but I don't care, I'll run the risk.We are playing well.  Very well a lot of the time.  We've only lost 5 times so far this season.  We have taken points from the other successful teams in League Two and we playing Wycombe on 14th March at Griffin Park.  For those of you who have taken your eye off the ball, Wycombe are right behind us, a game in hand and 4 points behind.  In other words, breathing right down our neck.  If you don't attend any other sporting event this year - this decade - please get yourself to Griffin Park on the 14th of this month.  This is not just about the football - it's never just about the football - this is about the team having the mental strength to hold their nerve, keep believing in themselves and staying relaxed enough to play well.  You can help by being their to roar them on when they face The Chairboys in just over a week's time.People of Ealing, forget your mouldy old QPR, overpriced Chelsea and underachieving Fulham - Brentford is where it is at for us West Londoners at the moment. What's happening at the moment is either going to lead to one hell of a party in TW8 come early May or an increase in calls to the local branch of Samaritans but whether it's triumph or tragedy, I'd urge you to be there to take part in some of it.

Sounds like the 'Posh' Manager is taking after his illustrious Father. I guess if it had been Brentford leading 2-1 he would be demanding 108 minutes playing time in his Father's old tradition!

Defeated last night yes, but embarrassed by no means. To reduce the side at the top of the league to time wasting tactics with half an hour to go shows just how far Brentford FC have come over the last couple of months.

Hmm, another defeat last night. Having seen them both during the good run after Terry Butcher left and the recent dip the main difference seems to be the absence of Matt Heywood.

I know you won't like this...but...I'm a Cardiff City supporter who has lived in Brentford for over 15 years...in the old days, when we were in the same division, the Brentford/Cardiff game, was always on, or around, my birthday (Between Christmas and New Year)....we often used to go to that game, sitting in the 'home' end....but never once did we ever experience any trouble at Brentford FC (can't comment on travelling supporters)....it was a great afternoon out, especially trying to get in The Griff afterwards !!!  In my experience, BFC, is an ace afternoon out...whether you've just come out of the pub and fancy watching the footy, or a planned afternoon with the kids....I'm a local resident (Mafeking) and yes, you do have to plan where to park the car when there's a game on, but football, or any sport, in the community is great.I hope that comes across right, from a Welsh person !!!!TA xx

Excellent thread Allison! Shame about the result against the Spireites and Matt Heywood's injury. I hope the journey back home wasn't too miserable!As I mentioned on Ealing Today, it is well worth drumming up support for our local club within Brentford itself as a lot of people (such as myself) have moved into the area recently, particularly with all the developments that have been built in the last few years.Paul, hopefully the Bees will be playing local league derbies against QPR and Chelsea in the near future!
