Hounslow Police Consultative Group

I have been asked by Mr Mohammed Chroudry who is the Chair to post the following message as he hoping that many local residents will come along when this committee meets in Brentford.Who knows,perhaps even Ann Keen MP might attend though she has been invited each month for seven years and has yet to attend a single meeting!!"Monday 12th May  Brentford Free Church 7pm Please come along to a meeting of the Hounslow Police Consultative Group where members of Community Organisation Groups and local police discuss at a strategic level Hounslow Borough Policing"

With a new Mayor of London, and a new Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority,it will be interesting to see how policing is going to change in Hounslow.Already there is some evidence to suggest that the Police are devoting more resources to tackling gun, knife and other violent crime.However, the situation will not improve overnight as it is a massive problem that will require years of effort to resolve.It is possible that the Keens may show up now that they know that unless they pay more attention to their constituents they will have absolutely no chance of being elected.Come to think of it, they probably won't bother to attend because they know they have no chance of being re-elected in any case.

I am amazes at the lack of interest shown by the public when the police are making strenuous efforts to communicate with and listen to their concerns. Various meetings are held across the borough, and the interest shown by the public is abysmal. I continually hear people moaning about the fact that they never see them, or cannot get through on the phone, but when the opportunity is given to question it, it's too much bother.I do of course realise that people have to work, and may not be able to attend many meetings........but surely if we want a safer community, is it too much to ask, what more can the police do?

"Who knows,perhaps even Ann Keen MP might attend though she has been invited each month for seven years and has yet to attend a single meeting!!"PaulAs an executive member of this committee, I think you would have more chance of getting the Pope to attend than Ann or Alan Keen!We would like to ask her about policing matters, and she has offered to meet us at the House of Commons, but none of us have a second home to stay in, so that was a No-No. It is worth a mention that as busy as he is Tony Arbour our GLA rep. takes a keen interest and attends regularly!There is a slot on the agenda for members of the public to ask questions of the borough commander, but he would obviously like notice of any questions to enable him to get the relevant information.
