We do have a judge who is living on the same planet as the rest of us. Judge Mrs Anne Raferty sentenced two animals to a total of 54 years, one receiving 26 years and the other scumbag 28 years. These 2 cowards kicked an elderl men to death and dragged him to a yard where he laid for 17 days, his family were obviously distraught at this callous and barbaric crime, and the judge described them as brainless cowards, I could think of several other descriptiond for them, but I respect the rules of the forum!These two characters had already mugged several other people, before moving on to kill this man for his mobile phone. For christ sake when are we all going to wake up and demand sentences for this crime to be a mandatory 30 years. This lady judge has started a trend that I hope her PC colleagues will follow suit. These animals are not fit to breath the same air as the rest of us. Dont talk to me about rehabilitating them, as I havent seen or heard any who have committed this offence, and then led a useful life afterwards...Has anyone else?

Oh Dear another judge has ruined my day yet again, just as I was thinking that we were about to change the sentences given to the thugs and criminals who are blighting our lives.Today the "star singer"? Pete Docherty was released today after serving just 29 days of a 14 week sentence for breaching his probation. This "star" has continually been given last chance opportunities in the past, and stuck up two fingers at the police and the courts, is it any wonder that the police are frustrated when every time he is caught with A class drugs, and on at least one occasion of driving without insurance, he is given a slap on the wrist and sent on his way. What sort of message does this send out to the rest of youngsters about to experiment with drugs. The sentences must be stiffer, and alongside this, drug rehab programmes for offenders. And what I find to be mind boggling, is that anyone can break into prison (LOL!) and deliver drugs. My solution would be for the military police army dog unit to take over responsibility for security in our prisons!Daft idea? The present way is not working is it? Are you listening Gordon?

Perhaps if Judges were voted onto the bench and faced re-selection in local elections every four years we might get a judiciary which reflects society and it's need not only for rehabilitation but also retribution.All the time it's let to the Ivory Tower dwellers, the sandel wearing lefties, the social workers and the Howard bloody league (all of whom are played like an old fiddle by the Lags) we will go round and round banging em up for a spell, letting 'em go and seeing 'em back six months later.I speak as an ex Prison officer with experience in three different countries (all be it some years ago) and trust me when I say many inmates in our system have a better life inside that ‘on the out.’What incentive do we offer someone to get up from a warm bed, queue for a bus in the rain and do 40 hours a week in the warehouse at a little over a fiver a hour when the alternative is to ‘do’ a Post Office and if on the off chance they should get caught they are banged up in a warm cell with the comforts we all know about. Criminals aren’t stupid… only when Prison is significantly worse than the alternative will they avoid it by doing the right thing.

Come on people of Hounslow, this is the second offence in as many weeks and bearing sadistic similarities, where 2 family men, one a grandfather was kicked to death for standing up to these scumbags. Nothing will change unless we ALL stand up and be counted.  Remember......this could happen to one of YOUR loved ones. If Gordon Brown says that he will listen to US let him hear this! I suspect dear Anne will listen but won't hear!

Let the punisment fit the crime... in this case Hung, drawn and quartering and buried at their familes expense (as it was their first offence).

I agree well said, its time judges started handing down sentences that show this scum they have to pay for there crimes.
