Good idea. I think so,getting rid of that stupid free news sheet The Londoner saving £2.5millon and using £1 million to plant ten thousand trees a good start from Boris

Yes I agree Robert, but my one fear is that they won't become a target for vandals. Sorry to be so cynical, but my local park had a few new trees planted but were very soon damaged by yobs!

you fear they won't become a target?

Excellent news. This will be difficult for those who questioned Boris's green credentials to rebut. He is also reducing tons of landfill every month.

At last a positive green initiative as opposed to those merely focussed on punishing people and raising revenue which never goes anywhere near conservation/environmental improvements.

Sorry I meant "become" a target. but I guess you knew that!
Sad but true I fear, I am awaiting the next headline though - Boris walks on water!

I never really got over the irony of Ken chopping down thousands of trees to tell us how green he was. Hounslow Council are still doing it.

Hounslow have a policy of never chopping a tree down unless it is unhealthy or unsafe and in fact plants far more then it cuts down.To be fair, this policy started under the previous administration and has carried on to this day.

Paul, the Council Magazine is made out of paper which comes from chopping down trees.
