Isleworth Mayor and Syon Deputy Mayor

May I be the first to congratulate Cllr Dr Genevieve Hibbs from the Isleworth Ward on being elected as Hounslow's Mayor for the forthcoming municipal year,and also an extra special congratulations to my wife Cllr Shirley Fisher who represents the Syon Ward on being nominated as the Deputy Mayor. Its great news that two local Councillors are in this position and I know that they will not let us down.

It is excellent news indeed and I wish Genevieve and Shirley all the very best for the year ahead.What is particularly worthy of note is that Genevieve's election as Mayor was unanimous.  Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, ICG, WAI, HIA and Chiswick Independent councillors all supported the election of a mayoral candidate from the ICG.  Does this represent a welcome departure from the thinking of old from certain of our opponents?
