Well Nikki,Hope your'e clear how to use the forum. Brentford is ,overall, a friendly and unpretentious place. It had an industrial history going back centuries but now is all but a dormitory town with new flats and hotels being built over the last 5 or 6 years.I have lived here for nearly six years and have friendly, helpful and kind neighbours.I can't comment on the schools but this info,as with crime stats, could be easily accessed via the web.Brentford has a bit of graffiti here and there but not enough to get too worked up about. It has a tired and worn out high st.with little in the way of shopping although there is a Somerfield and the ubiquitous Tesco's a mile away. There are plans to revamp the high st. but I do not know what stage they are at.It has a library, a small but perfectly formed cinema and nice walks on the river and local parks.Bus links are good but nearest tubes are a couple of miles away. Good overland rail links to city and west. Not many restaurants of note.Good old fashioned pubs abound.Depends what you want from an area.I would hate to 'recommend' Brentford to you and you then hated it.It has it's share of delights and problems like most places. It would be an Idea if you could visit for a day if you haven't seen it.I have been very happy in the parish and I wush you good luck in whatever decision you come to.
