A 406 North Circular Closure
A 406 North Circular ClosureThe A 406 North Circular (Gunnersbury Avenue) is still closed northbound due to the burst waterman just south of Gunnersbury Lane.I cycled up to the site about noon today and spoke to an engineer who advised me that the intended reopening of the A406 northbound was 1pm Sunday. Please don’t take that as gospel, but the burst had been repaired, the big hole evident on Friday night has been filled, the base course reinstated and the surface asphalt was being laid while I was there. Line marking is due later this afternoon, so Sunday 1pm does appear fairly likely. In the meantime, west Chiswick is more or less gridlocked and I would avoid the Hogarth roundabout like the plague. The A4 in both directions is very slow westbound from Hammersmith to Brentford and eastbound from Brentford to the Hogarth roundabout. The A316 from Richmond was running smoothly an hour ago and this would be the best route from Brentford to central London, using the Hogarth overbridge. Unless of course you are on a bicycle, in which case delays are minimal everywhere.Chris Calvi-Freeman Head of TransportLondon Borough of Hounslow
