St. Johns School Fair this Saturday

Just to let people know that this Saturday Our Lady and St. John's School is having its school fete. I'll be honest and admit that it's not the best in the area (certainly in comparison to Mount Carmel's fabulous effort last week) but all support is gratefully received.For those that don't know, the school is on Boston Park Road (turn left at The Globe pub)

To the 2 previous posters, I apologise for the offence taken however I think you're being a bit touchy. At no stage did I say that the fete is rubbish or an embarrasement.I appreciate that there may be difficulties and I'm sure a great deal of effort has been made by those organising the event, hence the original posting letting people know about it.As you say, instead of foccusing on the negative (which is what you have done) maybe you could have used your posting to inform others what time it starts.12 - 4 for those who would like to attend

Why do we bother?I know I am only a new parent at the school, compared to some, but I volunteered to be Acting Chair of the Friends Committee in order to get this event off the ground as no-one else would, otherwise there would have been no fete at all. I am so shocked at the negativity of so many parents at this school.  How are we ever to put on great events if the parents don't have any faith in what we can do - if only we all worked together.  Negative breeds negative and so things will never improve.I can't really put into words how I feel about that comment.....

Thanks for letting people know about the summer fete. I liked the positive aspect of your post, but not the negative. As one of the parents who put a great deal of time and commitment into getting the events up and running at school ie by attending friend's meetings etc, I think we do a damn good job, when many parents do not bother to lift a finger. Let us also not forget that the parents of Our lady and St John's (on the whole) cannot compete on a financial level with the those from the more affluent and salubrious catchment of Mount Carmel. More help is needed by our pool of parents, then perhaps we can put on the best fete in the area next year!!!!
