Looking for Relatives of the Memorial at St Lawrences

We are looking for relatives of the men named on the First World War Memorial at St Lawrences Church.  Brentford High Street Steering Group are currently raising funds for the Memorial which is in a bad state of repair.  We plan to have the restoration work carried out and move the stone to the Library and have it place alongside the other memorials.  The men who lost their lives can then be included in the Rememberence Sunday services held annually at the library.As part of the project we thought it would be a lovely to find out about some of the men named.  Perhaps some of the local schools can get involved too.  If anyone has any information please get in touch with me on 020 8847 4737 or call into the office Quilliam Property Services at 206 High Street.Many thanksJulia

Another point of contact for information might be through the local churches?  You may have to offer to contact people back if they are elderly and you might strike lucky with old photos as well.  Another group I know of is the Green school 'Old girls'.  There must be many other groups in Brentford who could be approached to ask their members?The web site you mention is full of information, well done.  :-)

I would ask anyone who visits this site to look at Celia Cotton's work on www.bhsproject.co.uk.  Celia has listed all the men on the Memorial and where available written about them.  It makes fascinating if not very emotional reading.
