Developers earning money from derelict sites and illegal hoardings is the case all over this borough. Our council make claims that they are dealing with the problem but they are not. Empty houses and industrial units are everywhere in the borough, last year the council made a great play about empty houses and how they were going to deal with them, they have done nothing. The two houses by Chiswick roundabout which were deliberately and unnecessarily gutted many years ago to enable hoardings to be put up are still derelict eyesores that attract rats and vandals. They have not been touched in years and whilst most of the hoardings were removed the remaining one provides plenty of money in revenue to prevent the development of these properties. The old bank site at this roundabout is an add man's dream and its no surprise that only total unsuitable developments have been proposed for this site , it's worth a fortune empty and no rates to pay. The building at Kew Bridge Station is still derelict as are the buildings beside it. Again a very large billboard sits in front of the building earning a fortune and there is no development work going on behind it. Over the road the is the Black widows site or should I say the advertising site for the Mortlake development, again only unsuitable developments are being put forward and the whole area stinks of sewage from what one can only assume is a broken or open sewage pipe. As for Brentford, what an absolute con the redevelopment of this town is. £320 million pound was handed over from central Government back in 1997, to the now defunct Brentford regeneration partnership and all that got produced seems to be a feasibility study, I will say it again what an absolute con. Not one councillor or MP seems to be asking or have asked any questions about it or attempted to respond to any posting on this subject let alone dared to look into it. Meanwhile Hounslow Town centre seems to be going to be completed before Brentford town centre is. So don't hold your breath for things to get better they will not as for as I can see.
