Mayor's Thames Festival 2008

I didn’t take a stand for the Stakeholders’ Forum this year, as everything had been dispersed or destroyed last year. However Hounslow was represented at the finale, with our Mayor attending along with several other riparian boroughs.First there was the opportunity to view the gallery of artwork from schools around the world on the ‘River’ theme, with the obligatory speeches –- to a just sufficiently lubricated audience –

Genevieve sent me a copy of one of her photos of her fellow Mayors, which I couldn't possibly publish in the cause of upholding the respectability of the office. Ours of course remained steadfastly sober on the variety of fruit juices made available.

Finally, all the mayors and assorted others were seated at the OXO building’s balcony for the magnificent fireworks display from barges on the Thames.

Following that was a rather splendid parade, with our Mayor being ably defended from the bustling crowds by the Town Crier (well that was his excuse)
