Tickets for tonight's Charity Auction

Tickets are still available for tonight’s charity auction and dinner at the Waterman’s Art Centre (6.30pm).  Celebrity auctioneer Tom Keene from the BBC’s Cash in the Attic, Flog-It and Bargain Hunt will be proceedings over the auction of lots of exciting items including a signed Harry Potter Poster by Daniel Radcliff.  For more information, please contact Quilliam Property Services 020 8847 4737.

There is indeed a full list of directors. I have not added up the figures for the full term this company run but there is not 14 million, although this figure seems to link to the S106 grants. If there if anyone else who is interested, I down loaded the documents from Companies house and could send them as an attachment to your e.mail address.I am hoping to find some time to visit the local reference library and see if I can obtain some of the newspaper reports on the funding so as I might ask the question of the department that was supposed to be making this funding available and find out why we do not seem to have had it.

I believe a lot of the money mentioned in the press never came through. If I remember the first amount that the Board recieved was 14 million pounds, not sure what they got after that. I could be wrong though, my memory is not what it was.I do remember working on some historical projects.

It's been a long time since I looked at the company papers Philip, but I recall that there was a full list (quite a long one) of officers of the company - several councillors, local businessmen etc some of whom still hold office I think. That should at least give you names of those involved to reach and question.

Yes Nigel, I have and they are even more confusing they contain very little in the way of a brake down and the figures are very small, they in no way reflect the sums of money that was reported as being made available from central government.I am sure anyone who was living and/or working in this area must remember the reporting in the local press and remember that the figures being quoted were huge, yet they do not appear in the paperwork.So the question remains 'where is the money' if it was never handed over to the Brentford Regeneration Partnership!

Sorry I could not make it, I did consider offering some of my goods for auction but was unsure how they would be received.However I feel that the sums received and the event itself was worthwhile I cant help but feel that finding out where the many millions of pounds handed over from central Government to the Brentford Regeneration partnership back in the late 1990's went would be of a great deal more benefit to the residents and businesses of the area. I have no wish to be dismissive of the hard work being put into such fund raising advents but I am at a loss to understand how local councillors and MP are not asking what happened to the very very large sum of money that was supposed to regenerate this area. As I understand it we got a feasibility study. I may not be the brightest of people but one would have to be very dense not to see and feel that there is something very wrong!

Thanks for your kind comments.  Yes it was a wonderful evening and I couldn't believe how many people turned up in the end, infact I still don't know how many came.There was such a lovely community spirit and it was great to see everyone having fun and meeting old and new friends.We along with everyone else were exhausted on Saturday and still not sure about exact figures but the auction and raffle made £2475 which is great news.Paul your photos look great, West Side magazine and The Chronicl have asked for photos.  Most of mine are too dark.  Would you be able to forward some to me or direct to the papers.  Please give me a call 8847 4737.Finally a great big thank you to everyone who donated such lovely things and to everyone who came along.  We really had such a great time.I will now get moving with the serious buisness of getting the memorial stone restored and moved and of course will keep everyone updated.Thanks again everyone and best wishesJulia

Can't tell you how much was raised Neil - though I suspect (from the prices paid for the goods) that it far exceeded expectations.As to whether it was a good evening - everyone I knew who was there was very out-of-it the following day and in no position to comment. But I am and will - it was very enjoyable, exceeding expectations in this as well, a lot of laughter, good food and drink and  a real sense of joining in for a laudable cause.A far larger crowd of all sorts than anticipated, with a palpable sense of fun running through the evening. Well done Julia and her team and all contributors.
