Recycling road show - HM magazine Aug 08

Road show noted in my diary - popped over to Chiswick Sainsbury's and realised I had forgotten the coupon to claim my free garden recycling bags!  They very kindly gave me my bags anyway - thank you!The stand was very busy with people asking questions.http://www.hounslow.gov.uk/hm_features_aug08.pdfPhoto to follow.HM magazine is much better these days, don't you think?

I noticed with this week's collection that some magazines were left in the box and several items were dropped on the pavement as litter. The collection was in the afternoon rather than the morning as previously.JL

Oh, by the way.  It may have been more luck than judgement, but the street sweeper came along after the (delayed) recycling collection.  :-)

I rang in to mention that the collection had not been made - and it had to be logged as a complaint.The collection was made mid day on Wednesday.  Watching the pick up probably explained why they were so late.  One man in the van, and two men outside handing him in the boxes to be sorted.  Two men standing around quite a lot - on top of the other man who went around placing the boxes onto the pavement the previous day!  The previous system of sorting/collecting was far more oiled and faster - they used to shoot down the road.

It gets dark too early to have more things on the pavements to trip over.I'm sure you are communicating with the Council - is recycling@hounslow.gov.uk the best way?  Its an open-all-hours way of communicating.Confused about the mention of cardboard on the front page.  Hounslow has had a cardboard collection for a long time.

Dustmen and recycling collection are now on the same day.Dustmen came as usual and a man came around a while later and moved all the recycling boxes off driveways and onto the street ... and that is where they have stayed!  :-(

I am really looking forward to the addition of plastic and food waste to the recycling collections and the all year collection of garden clippings!  I read somewhere that LBR are getting rid of the 'bags' and are replacing these with blue boxes.I have found the recycling team to be very responsive to questions and issues with the collection point at Homebase - I cannot believe the state some people leave it in!Thank you!  :-)

Well, that is good news Paul.  :-)Will we have sensible boxes for the plastic?  LBR use white bags for some of their recycling which, with the first gust of wind, blow up and down the street emptying the contents.
