Very few new posts on the forum?

I've noticed a real slow down of new posts onto the forum in recent weeks. Certainly there are now very few posts about local issues - are there really so few new local issues in Brentford? I expected some posts on what is happening to south of the High Street (apparently the businesses there are being offered 5 year lease extensions - so no hope of development in the near future)? Or any info about the new medical centre opening on the A4, next to the Audi garage? Or what is being built in Syon Park?I wonder if this slow down in new posts is in any way related to the increased number of posts that relate to individual politic view-points and, worse still, a small number of people using the forum as a place to bicker between each other? (Often it seems that they are the same few people.) Has everyone else has given up on the forum as no longer being for them - as it appears to have become only the domain of a few? Perhaps it is worth trying to get the forum back to what it was intended for?

I agree with Mick. I too read the posts on this, and other forums but only post if I have something to add to the debate. My employment also restricts me from commenting on political issues so even if I wanted to post something it is wise for me not to.

I think maybe most people are like me. They read most of what goes on, but will only post if they feel they have something to add to the debate. I'm not too worried by the personal/political spats - they can be quite entertaining. The forum will probably liven up now the cold, dark evenings are upon us.

This is the world of Forums, whether cars, dogs or politics.A few people post, many people read (lurk) and much of the debate is personal and political point scoring.Many Forums eventually implode, or are ursurped by other ones.I hope this Forum can continue on its way, perhaps thoughtfully and calmly.I must say, I am a little discouraged from making new posts by a degree of personal animosity I have seen here.

A lot of new customers who come to me tell me they found my details on CW4 and yet I have never heard of them. When I check I find that they never post merely just read.I often ask why they read and dont write and they say that too many people pick up on little insignificant points in peoples posts.

I would not have thought that the observation was correct. In some respects thankfully, because in fact the tendency to post up new topics as seen on other sites (and betimes, this one), can tend to relegate interesting topics all too quickly inro oblivion, with parallel and sometimes equivalent topics aired under differing headlines.Phil's comment is very relevant in that the vast majority of observers are not contributors. It does make it hard at times to guage the piublic response, but certainly far more read than contribute, and the viewpoints disseminate regardless.

AlanAssuming the search engine on this forum is working properly, this is your fourth post.  One of the other three was about the commissioning of KPMG by Hounslow Council and the other two were about the regeneration of Brentford High Street, in other words themselves subjects which have a political flavour.Speaking personally I would welcome more posts from people such as yourself, on other topics.  Even those of us who are involved in local politics do think about other things from time to time.If at present the only posts are political in nature, then disqualifying posts of that kind would mean no posts at all.  It's the people who don't post, not those who do, whom you need to be addressing your comments to.Impressed by your timing though. ;o)
