ANOTHER BURNT OUT CAR BROOK LANE NORTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes..... It's happened again!!!!! Roughly 5-6 weeks from the 3 burnt out cars in Brook Lane North we had another one at 1.30am this morning!  This time not along the side of the derelict New England Pub but the otherside outside of 2 business in Brook Lane North! First we thought it was very late for fireworks to start until a huge explosion that actually shook our offices!!!How can this be stopped PLEASE!!!!!!Fran Naughton

I agree with Matt. Our local Safer Neighbourhood Team are doing a great job and are as frustrated and angry as we are with the non-appearance of the CCTV cameras.However, I understand that these cameras are being updated so that they will record for a week and be linked directly to the police station. We will get there but it is just taking time. I am concerned that the nature of the car fires have changed from stolen cars dumped and set on fire to residents cars being broken into and then set on fire.Why is this road being targeted?Nicki

Well considering the amount of speed cameras that are being installed around Brentford at around £25K a piece, I'm not surprised they havn't introduced more CCTV cameras as they do not bring in any revenue for the council!

Thanks for letting us know this Matt.Of course, the other implication could be increased cost of Car Insurance due to the level of this activity. Do we know it the police have any suspect(s) yet? The last 2 burnt out vehicles belong residents of York Road.  Was the car with paint thrown over it, which was parked near the burnt out van connected?Regards,Fran

Frustratingly, CCTV cameras should have been installed by now but the cameras have been unavailable due to them needing maintenance. I have asked the relevant Sector Inspector for written reassurance that this situation will be resolved as soon as possible, as this is clearly unacceptable. Our local Safer Neighbourhood Team is doing an excellent job and we do not like seeing them let down by other parts of the service.Matt HarmerBrentford ward councillor

Seen the police out there this afternoon with the forensic people taking photos etc.I wouldn't have thought that there would be any evidence left as the van was completely burnt out, but must be somebody local.
