London Middlesex?

Watch the ad for Q West at the top of the community forum page which states the address as being Great West Road, LONDON, Middlesex TW8 9BS!Obviously did not want to put the correct address as Brentford but chose to put London as they must have thought that it would sell/rent easier even though it's a Middlesex post code!

The Royal Commission on Local Government in Greater London was established in 1957 and this led to the London Government Act 1963. Almost all of the original area of Middlesex was incorporated into an enlarged Greater London in 1965.So dependent on your birth date you may have been one of the last.

Did the County of Middlesex cease to "officially" exist in about June 1964?The reason I ask is that my Birth Cerificate shows me being born in the County (Central Middlesex Hospital Park Royal)and I have been told that I could have been one of the last to have been registered as such if true.

Another example is Toyota Chiswick on the A4.  Obviously too posh for Brentford but the Mercedes garage further down the road and near Chiswick is not embarrassed to be called Mercedes Brentford.

I always find it annoying when they refer to Brentford West London on the news.  I shout Middlesex !!

Yes  -they did in spite of trying to persuade them differently when they first opened. I well remember some of the new residents of Varsity Close being most put out when they realised they were in the L.B. Hounslow and not Richmond upon Thames! Hyacinth Bucket where are you?

I believe the Ivybridge Retail Park (MFI, Halfords et al) along Twickenham Road, Isleworth, did something similar.

Typical developers ploy, the Tesco at Mogden Lane which is firmly situated in Isleworth refers to itself as 'Tesco Twickenham', pathetic really.
