Rugby Traffic

It was good to read in this weeks Chronicle that Local Councillors have started to act on Rugby traffic Parking on Ivybridge Estate but can i ask our Local Councillors if they can do something for the residents of Oak Lane/Weavers Close who have had to suffer for years also with cars parking in their street on match/concert days preventing residents from parking outside their own homes.A couple years ago i approached the RFU who informed me these 2 streets were to far from the grounds but i tried to point out they are 5mins walk from the grounds, there is easy access threw the sewage works to get back and forth and that's why we get people parking here, i also pointed out their are streets further away from the grounds that have the resident only parking scheme but it fell on death ears.Can i ask the local councillors if they can look into this and to see if they can get these two streets in the controlled zones pleasethank you

Mr JonesThe RFU CPZ is completely free to residents within the scheme and only applies on match and concert days.

yes give the council more money £60 a year to park outside your house. enforce it and watch how many people get caught .dont expect trades people to work in a cpz .why would you give yourself an extra tax ?also 200 spaces and 400 passes sold in most areas.

SimonIf you can demonstrate that the majority of your neighbours would be in favour of the RFU CPZ scheme being expanded to cover the area you live via a petition etc then I will happily push this forward for you if possible.

I thought you made a pleasant posting asking for the issue to be considered, Simon.  If it is examined then consideration can be given to the existing parking arrangements and the residents living there - many of whom may be elderly or single parents (I think you have said before that your flat is small) who need to park up near to their houses instead of re - parking after dark from a road several streets away purely because of an event at the National stadium.

Firstly i don't drive nor watch Rugby.secondly i was thinking about residents who are elderly who cant park outside their homes.If others have to pay to park in car pks so should they all.In my Street i know that residents would want the CPZ.If everyone stopped parking in Tesco and School Car Prks and paid then they would loose out on money and for schools it means alot.

I can not see what the problem is, living about the same distance away from the stadium as the two roads you talk about, we have never had a problem with the rugby crowd. Yes they park in our road and others around us but they are no trouble. Many times a driver has pulled up and made a point of asking if it is OK to stop there before parking. If we are going out and are to return before the game is over we simply put a couple of gardens chairs outside, these have never been moved.The rugby stadium brings employment to the area throughout the year and much increased business to local pubs etc. on match days.When the original CPZ's for match days were introduced we were asked if we wished to be a part of the scheme and no one in the road wanted to.Enjoy the game and stop moaning about having to walk a few extra yards about thirty times a year.
