Christmas Lights and Funding

The Brentford High Street Christmas Lights were officially switched on last night from the Watermans.  The evening was a great success with children from St Pauls singing carols, a gorgeous merry-go-round gave rides to the children and lots of mulled wine drank by us older ones.  We sold some Brentford Christmas cards (proceeds go towards the lights) and collected donations of just over £50 which was great.  Thank you to everyone. The fund raising is going really well for the lights this year.  We did want to improve on last year's lights but unfortunately there was a shortfall of £2,068 owed to the Council from last year which we had to find first.  This year the Council is charging us £3,200 to erect and take down the lights as well as for storage when not in use.  However we were able to apply to the Council's Area Committee for a grant towards the lights and were awarded £500.  Together with proceeds from the Fund Raising Auction in September, donations made by local residents and businesses and the sale of Christmas cards we have now raised £2,906 which is very close to our target. For anyone who hasn't bought their Christmas cards we still have plenty left at 206 High Street.  We are also selling some cards for Boston Manor Park.  For anyone wishing to make a small or large donation we have a collection box at the office.Thank you to everyone who has helped make the Christmas lights possible this year.Julia QuilliamQuilliam Property Services020 8847 4737
