flytipping and littering

The amount of littering is worse than ever in Brentford. Everywhere I walk I see it. Can something be done? Who are the people that do it? Can the police be more vigilant? I live on Brentford Dock and thanks to the full time cleaners we have a decent environment to live in but as soon as I walk in any direction I feel let down by the disrespect shown by many. ideas? T

This is the reason that the Fix My Street site is good.  It will help you to locate where exactly the problem is and you can place an arrow to mark the spot.  I often only know roads as 'the road opposite the park' etc.  I suppose you could always report it twice or just use the map to pinpoint it and then report on the Council's site. (The LBE website report-it now has a map as well.)Some wire fencing is just the right size to 'post' cans and bottles through causing an eyesore that is not very accessible.It is illegal to fly-tip and the Council should be looking to identify whose waste it is and not just collecting it.

The problem with the Council form is that it seems to assume that the fly-tipping is outside your front door and you therefore know the address and postcode. Most fly-tipping is done in remote areas like Park Road beside Syon Park that doesn't have a post code as there are no houses there. Best report tipping via the e-mail address.I complained last year about the fly-tipping into the Green School from Spur Road through the badly maintained fence but nothing was done - doesn't say much for the Borough's educational facilities.However, the Council have always been prompt to deal with fly-tipping I've reported on the public highway.JL

Have you been in touch with the council? We had a lot of rubbish at the end of our road and I contacted them and it was sorted out. Hounslow centre is appalling too - still you must remember being told that we haven't really had any cuts have we? If the Council get rid of over 300 staff what do you expect, who the hell is left to enforce anything? That seems to be the trade off for not putting the Council Tax up to pay for services.
