Mobile phones a cautionary tale
Not posessing one of these blights on civilisation myself, I really do think they are becoming more of a menace. Driving with one stuck to your ear is mad, but people persist anyway, pedestrians who wander willy nilly in traffic while immersed in texting or yapping nearly drive me to distraction, but yesterday really took the prize. Where I work we have a large pond with fountains, a customer too busy texting to look where he was walking managed to walk over the edge straight into a frozen pond, fortunately it was only up to his waist, you can only imagine the shock to the system that must have been! I have to say knowing that the man was alright I did then really laugh, what on earth can be so important that it's worth risking stupid accidents like this?
