Travellers on lot on Commerce Rd

Last night two caravans appeared on a vacant lot off Commerce Road - they look like travellers - caravens with dump trucks. They have already started dumping rubbish and setting fires. If anyone has experienced travellers set up nearby then you will know what we can expect - rubbish, damage, etc. If this sounds like pre-judging the situation it is because I've had this happen before when I lived outside London. The mess they left then was terrible.I may be wrong. They may be workers for something being done locally - anyone know?

AlanWe recieved two calls from residents about this this morning. I attended the site and spoke with the travellers who stated they intended to stay as long as possible. Following a discussion with British Waterways ( who own the land in question) i served the travellers with a legal notice to leave the site and take all their belongings with them. As a result of this they have now left and i have resecured the gates to the site. I will be speaking with British Waterways again to ensure they properly secure the area in question Sergeant Nathan FaneBrentford Safer Neighbourhood Team

Isn't Commerce Road in the Syon SNT patch ? !!Not that I object at all to prompt action being taken successfully. I'll let you cross the canal.Well done.

TimYes it is Syons. Brentford SNT are the duty team this weekend and responsible for the whole sector, hence our involvement. Obviously this needed dealing with asap to stop any further travellers entering the site. Nathan

Thanks to all involved. They left this afternoon.I do not wish them ill, but my previous experience with travellers was less positive. Its a shame to tar everyone with the same brush, but past experience and all that...
