Recycling non-collection

Anyone else having trouble with Hounslow recycling collections?Our green boxes haven't been emptied for four weeks now! - apparently because we live on the 'wrong end' of Windmill Road or 'too close to the Ealing border'. I know some international borders can be dangerous...but...Ealing?!?

Having received the many boxes, sacks two weeks ago we have decided to opt out of the recycling service, and will recycle our waste via the tip in our own time. Over the years we lost count of the number of disappearing green boxes, and we frankly don't trust the new service to do what it claims.

Info from a resident in TW7 "Yesterday I wrote to the Chief Exec and the CouncilLeader - this morning I have  received an email from  Robert Della Sala who informs me that the person responsible for recycling will be back from holidays soon so he will have an opportunity to enquire the reasons of this latest fiasco.For your information, in our patch of Varsity Drive there are 52 addresses but only 5 have been provided with all the necessary boxes/bags and so on necessary for recycling. Needless to say that yesterday we had 3 large collection lorries around but they only emptied just one white bag(dedicated to plastic bags). All the other bits are still on the road, to the great delight of the resident foxes.Will let you know how this situation devolves."

Nice to see the inconsistencies prevail in Brentford.  I lived in TW8 (moved back to Canada 5 years ago) and every week I had to phone to get my green bin collected.  I'm now in the land of all recycle/compost and rubbish collection every other week.  Makes you feel so much better knowing that landfills are not being filled un-necessarily.  Good luck with getting it sorted!

The service seems to be inconsistent. Ours was fine last week (TW7) but today they only took the plastic and left all the paper,  cardboard, bottles and cans. I guess we are now left with the debris cluttering the place and possibly blowing around for another week. If we knew they wouldn't be back a week we could take it but the problem is they don't tell you anything. Chris Calvi-Freeman very kindly regularly posts updates on road works or possible disruption on this site. Is there anyway Councillors could make it mandatory for the rubbish and recycling head to keep the public informed via this forum?

I work in L.B.Richmond, round where I was yesterday boxes of all sizes and colours strewn all over the pavements and road. Pity anyone with poor sight they'd have broken their neck!Perhaps it is just a common theme to recyclers that they can't put anything back where they got it?

I didn't get a reply to my e-mail so in greater depth - our neighbours boxes and bags were returned all over the front driveway, blocking the pathway for their motor scooter.  In order to get into their house they had to get off the scooter, move the boxes and mount the scooter which took about 20 minutes - during which time they could have fallen onto the concrete driveway at any point.  Throwing the boxes around may be suitable for an able bodied person to pick up (?!!!) but where are the considerations for disabled/frail people?I took my neighbour out today to the dentist just after the food collection had been, and a number of the boxes had thrown upside down onto the path and front driveways - YUK!We worked out where our blue bag went wrong last week but inside the green box today they left the textiles - and the same with next door.  It appears the textiles were rejected as they were not inside a plastic carrier bag!Everything was collected otherwise.  Well done them and us.

It took them until wednesday to clear our recyling due Tuesday. but it is still the rubbish they stew around that gets meI watched one operative throw stuff around in the van and another clear it up...problem? that stuff that fell into the road was not cleared up.We have this problem for ages...no street cleaning (by broom) in Castle Road!i LOOK IN oSTERLEY sPRING GROVE - WONDERFUL! sorry hit wrong key! what is wrong with Syon?Day late with recycling and still rubbish over our streets?

Asked a neighbour in a nearby street about the new recycling and how his had gone and was told they considered it pretty useless.  They didn't have their food waste taken and the team scattered the boxes all over the driveway.  With able people around it is easy to pick these up but although there were lots of visible signs outside the house that somebody might have mobility difficulties, there was no care in where the boxes and bags were returned to.e-mail to environment people with more details.

Well done!  Apart from the driving along the pavement our collection was made in full.  We did make a mistake with the blue bag and received one of these with the returned full bagHaving checked it out we can now put things right for next week.

tell me about it !!!  I've just written yet another email to them about non-collection!!  And the streets are now such a mess because of all the boxes and bags we have to put outside!  I know it's a new service, but pleease please sort this out !!xx

First day of the new and improved service yeterday.We've good food waste bins, a green box and blue, green and white bags.Yesterday was a 'green' collection day according to the wonderful leaflet the council left.What was collected?Drum roll pleaseFood waste and normal rubbish.Blue bag and green box (paper and bottles and tins/cans)ignored and left outside full. So they've taken something new but ignored what they used to take.Why am I not surprised, with this council and history of recycling problems, that it appears to have all gone horribly wrong? I was expecting it but I though they could have at least got the first day right if only to show off.

I've been complaining about the hit and miss recycling collections for ages now.  Our communal bins are rarely emptied.  I've also noticed that there are individual green bins which are sitting nicely outside people's property waiting to be collected.Even the complaints centre seems to be overwhelmed with complaints.  I got an out of office response in reply to an e-mail I sent to the head of waste management services stating they were experiencing high volumns of mail etc.Seems like the new contractors aren't delivering the required service.

Our white bag full of plastic is still there. I placed it just inside my open gate on top of the green box. The green box was emptied and thrown, together with the full white bag, into the middle of the pavement.JL

No, Sarah, they just walk straight past because we're in the 'disputed border area'! Unfortunately, unlike Kashmir, neither Hounslow nor Ealing seem very keen to lay claim to us.I'm sure Robert Rankin could mine the situation for comedy gold.However - a result! An hour after I posted the above the collection truck came grumbling back and our box was emptied for the first time in weeks.Such is the power of the Internet and this forum!I hope normal service will continue next week....

I was under the impression that the gang just goes home at the end of the day leaving what they cannot do - but they do not start where they left off the previous day which may be why you have missed so many collections.Our recycling has just been collected and as in the photographs and discussion with the 'girl' in environment a short while ago - they drove up and along the pavements.  :-(
