CCTV Parking Fines

I can just about live with the idea of CCTV cameras being used to help reduce crime, but to issue parking tickets?  No, that just stinks of a slimy way of raising money.  Pretty sure I didn't see that on anyone's manifesto at the last election.As you might guess, I have been issued a £50 parking ticket for parking outside a restaurant in Hounslow (Nando's) for 5 minutes at 8pm on a Saturday.  This was where I've parked for years, wasn't blocking traffic and 4 other cars were parked at the same time.So what do I do now.  Visit Hounslow again, nope.  I'll shop in Northfields where they appear to want people to come and offer 30 minutes free parking everywhere.Great job Hounslow council, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Adam I think you have answered the question. Its just far to complicated in Hounslow to remember where or when you can or can't park. From Hounslow through to Brentford its just too confusing to attempt to abide by the law. Brendan is quite right to give up on Hounslow. In Richmond you know exactly where you stand and there's loads of free parking around on a Saturday night and you don't need a torch and magnifying glass to try to decipher the cryptic signs

It's hardly a new thing, many CCTV cameras supposedly there to 'deter crime' are permanently fixed on bus lanes etc.I don't really have a problem with it though, if you've regularly parked illegally for years your luck had to run out one day.  I can't remember if it's free at 8pm on a Saturday but couldn't you have parked in the car park near the rear of Nandos ?.  Or on the side street opposite where the bingo hall used to be where there are meters ?.
