about student life in brentford

hi everyone.my daughter will be starting t.v.u in september.i would be grateful for any advice on.safety best student areas to live in brentford.good shops to get what she needs eg bedding pans cups ect she is coming from northern ireland to study nursing .also is heathrow the closest airport or could you tell me is stanstead far.thanks for any help

Firstly thank you very much Keith for your kind words and recommendation.Christina should your daughter not get sorted out please give us a call.  Brentford doesn't usually cater for students on the open residential market.  We do however sometimes have rooms available in shared flats and houses and obviously some better than others.  Prices start from around £350 pcm inclusive of bills.Either way do ask your daughter to call in and say hello and we can point her in the right directions for lots of things, ie shopping, food and pubs and local attractions etc.All the very bestJulia and the team at Quilliam Property Services 020 8847 4737

The TVU Paragon building in Boston Manor Road is where I believe the nursing takes place.  This is outside Boston Manor park so visit www.fobm.org.uk to get your barings re the location.  TVU run a free bus service to the other site in Ealing so transport should not be a problem but Boston Manor tube is only a 10 minute walk as is the Brentford over-line service.  There are definately halls of residence on this site for people in their first year.    If she arrives by 6th September perhaps she would like to visit the Brentford Festival in the park which will give her a feel for the community spirit in the area. Hi Christina,She could buy all she wants in Hounslow(though it is not the nicest place to shop).There is a virtually 24 hrs massive ASDA.Not sure about student accom. but Quillam's eastae agents on Brentford High St. do lets. They are also quite involved in a couple of community projects like moving a war memorial to a more suitable place so they are doing a bit for Brentford not just taking.Bus links and overground trains are good but there is no tube stn. the nearest being Osterley or Boston Manor.Stanstead is a fair distance(poss 45 miles?)I think.There's your usual Tesco's .The high st. is nothing to write home about but it is a friendly community,all things considered.Good luck to her.

hi stanstead is approx 50 miles from brentford .heathrow is 8 miles.you can get a coach from stanstead into centrl london and the a train from london to brentford central which takes 25mins from waterloo and drops you 200yards from TVU.the cost of flying into heathrow can be very expensive compared  stanstead,if time is not too important l would plump for stanstead .

Hi Christina - Brentford's always felt pretty safet to me in the 5 years I've been here. Not sure where exatly I'd recommend students to live. Heathrow is the nearest airport but Gatwick is also easy to get to by train and sometimes the flights to NI are cheaper there. Stansted is a pain to get to. There are a few basic shops in Brentford but bigger shopping and nightlife areas like Ealing and Chiswick are close by bus. Hope that helps.
