ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooJust to let you know that a Lampton Road Civic Reception was held this evening for Brentford Football Club to celebrate its achievements during the 2008/2009 season. Not only had they been the CHAMPIONS of League Division 2..but were impressively voted League 2 Community Club of the Year.The Mayor, Cllr Paul Lynch had invited the Club and it’s Officials to attend..and that must be a rare “sporting” happening at the Civic Centre. A flotilla of the Borough’s Councillors attended..including Messrs Dakers, Cadbury and Hamer…some supporters,players, Bees United Officials, and several senior Council officers.Four great speeches were heard. Modest drink and refreshments was consumed. All was very friendly and reflected well on both the Council and the BFC who’s partnership in Community happenings is much valued .The Mayor elegantly kicked off the speeches with both formal and amusing words. He welcomed the Bees and extended to them his and the Borough’s congratulations. Next followed Cllr Mark Bowen (deputy Leader) who made what several said was his best ever speech..Wow. It was comprehensive..raised many smiles..and caused a lot of laughs..and one can’t ask fairer than that. Then Cllr Phil Andrews came to the platform and eloquently reported on his involvement with Bees matters when he was on the Executive. He particularly praised the fine work of his predessessor in that job, Luke Kirton, who had laid down substantial foundations in the BFC and Council relationship.ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooBrentford’s manager Andy Scott was a proud citizen tonight. He responded well to the accolades and outlined his thoughts about the past season..and the new one ahead.Anyway, the local press will report on the event properly and others may wish to have their say.
