I can see why Jim Lawes in desperation opened a separate thread to glorify the saintly Boris. Now let's get something clear - was Boris visiting as part of his Mayoral duties or was he doing so as a party political promo of the banker Tory prospective parliamentary candidate for Brentford and Isleworth. Judging by the Ashcroft-funded balloons which stalked him everywhere, the latter. So spontaneous the way these Conservative admirers spontaneously pop up, though given the chaos of the posts on this thread as to the itinerary, it's a miracle they got to the right place on the right date.So if it was a party political event, it was time off from being full-time Mayor then, was it? What, if anything, got charged however to the mayoral expenses? It is complex being mayor, isn't it, Boris?! Would it have been more productive if you had spent the day at say Hounslow civic centre being briefed on local planning and transport issues insofar as they have a London-wide impact. That might have been more on-the-job as goodness knows, as the MP for Henley for some months after you were elected Mayor, and no doubt drawing salary whilst doing so, you do need a lot of on-the-job training. And for those who carp, as a London local taxpayer, I have every right to comment on this forum on how Boris spends his time and my money.
