The facts about the Keens speak for themselves

The Telegraph, the Daily Mail, the Mirror, the Evening Standard, the BBC, Sky News, BBC Radio London, Channel 4 News, the Chiswick Times, the Hounslow Chronicle and www.chiswickw4.com have all featured major stories on Ann and Alan Keen in the last few days, quite apart from the numerous stories over the past few years.These stories have been factual and accurate.Their constituents are well informed (unless they are illiterate, on holiday or out of the country).Neither the Keens nor the Labour Party have succeeeded in contradicting these facts.The facts speak for themselves.If these facts are not enough for Gordon Brown to ask for Ann Keen's resignation and for the Labour Party to deselected both of them, then Gordon Brown and the Labour Party are even more stupid, arrogant and corrupt than even I had ever dreamed of.

So Mrs Keen's statement says:""... many people became aware of it before we (The Keens) were officially told when they read the local newspaper......"Not to mention TW8.com!And perhaps Neighbourhood Watch would have been concerned..And pedestrians in Lateward Road..having to duck under the uncared for and overhanging vegetation.And the postman and other deliverers treading on that unswept and unweeded front path.And the unlit bulging uncovered skip in Lateward Road placed close to a busy road junction and being an obstruction to motorists and cyclists on those dark nightsCome on Robin..that's not showing respect for the locals. All good Scouts know that.At least they could have erected an Apology Board or something...or at least trimmed the huge hedges. Topiary wasn't the builders job!

Phil,Your second sentence implies that you think that Ann's opponents have been running a dirty campaign against her. Thanks for the clarification.I did not use the term 'dirty' - I merely pointed out that her opponents have set the terms (and the tone) of the forthcoming campaign.Why do you think Labour should campaign in a polite way in response to the smears, innuendo and underhand tactics of its opponents?

They really should not complain when they suffer the consequences."This really is brass neck at its brassiest.  So what has been the trigger for your previous dirty campaigns then?I refer to your current Brentford leaflet, the by-election campaigns in Hanworth Park and Chiswick, and Isleworth in 1998, 2002 and 2006.  Am I to take it that your forthcoming dirty campaign will prove to be as successful as all these were?Andrew and Mary will be considering themselves truly warned.

I'm glad Ann has released that statement. I believe that there were (and may still be) certain legal ramifications involved which may have delayed all of these (and other) facts from reaching the public domain.The last sentence highlights what, in my opinion, is a really quite unsavoury and underhand vandetta. Those of her political opponents who are persuing her in this way have, in my opinion, set both the terms and the tone of the forthcoming campaign. They really should not complain when they suffer the consequences.Regarding Colin's comment. The homophobic attack was a fact - but you don't have to believe it. I'm not going to try and prove it to you.

I see that there is now a statement from Ann on her website:http://www.annkeenmp.co.uk/anns-statement-on-home-claims"......Speaking in response to media enquiries about her home of 22 years, Ann said: "Like many others who have had alterations and builders in their home, we too have experienced the nightmare side of it. We had no choice but to halt work on our home because we became very concerned about the quality and standard. We had an independent assessment, which took some time, and we were informed very recently that the company we had been working with had gone into liquidation. “Following this news, we have now been able to appoint a new company and we expect to commence the completion of our home in the next couple of weeks. Many people have expressed their surprise and concern that we were only made aware that this was creating a problem for the London Borough of Hounslow by letter received on June 22. However, many people became aware of it before we were officially told when they read the local newspaper......"

I wonder if the Keens could release their correspondence with the Fees Office outlining the extraordinary circumstances which have resulted in the agreement to maintain their abandoned house as a main residence.It would save the time taken to drag out the Freedom of Information request.

Are the news stories factual, though?I have seen some internet comment to the effect that they are badly researched, especially relating to the issue of the Keens' Brentford house. The truth is that it is not under threat of "repossession"; Nor has Ann had private health treatment.The other stuff is probably happening to MPs up and down the country.
