Railway Bridge over the high street

Sorry nothing to do with greedy and imoral MPS. I was once told by an eldery lady that the old bridge over the high street from brentford dock was used for a movie (Ealing Comedy) I am interested in tracking down all major movie clips that feature Brentford. Have so far managed the followingHell Drivers: trolley bus at the gas worksThe Bargee: Brentford dock and further up the canalFinding Neverland: The ButtsMiss Potter: The ButtsGreen Streets: The Griffin and Braemar RoadGoal 2: The GriffinLayer Cake: Brentford High StreetHavent started on the TV Shows yet but I do know that early Doctor Who's were filmed in Brentford including the Steam Museum and the tower blocks on Green Dragon Lane as a base for the Daleks. And you dont get much more famous than that.Any help greatly appreciated. And I promise not to charge it to expenses

Craig, I have a full list of everything that was shot in Hounslow from 1992 until Nov 2003: happy to share that with you, no expenses necessary.Denis Firminger at Reel Films based at Chiswick Town Hall should have records of everything shot subsequently as he runs a film office for the borough.  He should share this with you willingly.Cheers

That was 'Thief Takers' I think, it has been re-run recently on one of the cable channels, Reece Dinsdale - now in Corrie was in it as my memory serves.

there was a police series not sure how long ago used an office in the the old skb(beechams)office as there hq,when anyone looked out the window you could see the fly over.Also there was late night filming there about five years ago when two helicopters came in low either landed or just got low enough to let people disembark.

Boston Manor Park again, Jesse Birdsall and Craig Mclachlan asked me where the nearest pub was during a break. They were crestfallen when I told them the other side of the A4. Recall seeing lots of chasing around the old factory site that is now GSK HQ.

They filmed bits of New Tricks in Boston Manor Park last year and are constantly using that private casualty unit that went bust (underneath the flyover) for various things.Friends of Boston Manor could probably give you quite a list of what BMH has been used for.

A friend of mine played in some disused film studios years ago. Him and his friends where able to use all the different locations: Wild West, Prison etc. Perhaps this is the Isleworth Studio? The main dialogue scenes in "The African Queen" do look like they may have been filmed between Watermans Park and Heron's Island.

The City Barge is still there on Strand on the Green I watched the filming of the scene and the Scottish band marching down Thames Road

The advert re benefit fraud was perhaps rather aptly filmed in Brentford High Street at the Half Acre where the subjects got into a works van and then got out again to go for a drink in the Albany Arms

The City Barge is on the IMDb Chiswick location list. The Fab Four also appeared in the Thornbury Playing Fields, Isleworth in A Hard Day's Night.Syon House has its own page in the IMDb.JL.

The IMDB list which Jim posted is indeed a good one, but shouldn't be taken as complete. It doesn't, for instance, include the Beatles film, 'Help', a scene for which was shot in the now vanished riverside pub, the City Barge.Syon House has featured in countless films, including 'Gosford Park', 'King Ralph', 'Bedazzled' (1967 version) etc.

Very interesting thread!Worton Hall Studios in Isleworth was set up in 1914 with the Sherlock Holmes film, 'A Study in Scarlet', being the first of many films shot there. It seems likely that some of these productions may have used nearby Brentford as a location.After various changes of ownership, the diminished studios became Isleworth Studios where these features were at least partly shot:    * Under the Doctor (1976)    * Once You Kiss a Stranger (1969)    * The Italian Job (1969)    * Curtain Up (1952)    * The African Queen (1951)Again, Brentford might have popped up as a location in some of these. I remember reading that 'The African Queen' was partly shot on London canals so even that may have a Brentford connection! Good luck!

The film rainbow jacket was filmed partly in brentford in 1954 at the corner of brammer road and brooke road south.They place a dummey postbox on the corner oppersite the griffin, the elderly were commenting that it was nice of the post office to supply a new post box thus saving them the walk to te main post office.The props man did not destroy there dream and when filming was finished they collected the mial post together and reposted it at te main post office.The film was about a jockey taking a young rider under his wing and some of the stars were Sid James,Honour Blackman,Bill Owen,Robert Moley,Wilfred Hyde-White a  geust appearance by Sir Gordon Richards.
