Well I loved Leonard Cohen years ago.  When I was feeling down or just thoughtful I'd start playing Cohen then move on to Dylan and then gradually on probably ending with the Stones. Last year I knew there was a tour and waited for the dates but could only find him at the O2 when I prefer smaller venues (subsequently he played RAH). It sold out.  I was cross and bemoaned the fact I'd dithered, hadn't booked and lost the opportunity.Son suddenly phoned to say that more tickets were available. This time I was determined not to miss him. Partner moaned how it would be better to watch on TV the O2 is so big. Did I really want to go?  Yes.Partner tried to escape and went abroad and then extended stay. Would it still be possible?  It wouldn't be the same on my own or with someone else as it was my birthday treat. I was miserable.  A colleague reckoned it could be possible. I booked train tickets across London and met Partner off the plane at Heathrow and we went hot foot and train and tube straight to the O2 and arrived in time for Partner to read his emails to catch up on work. Partner moaned again about the size of the place. It was an absolutely brilliant show.  With such a great band and backing it wasn't like watching someone who was a shadow of his former self.  If his voice was slightly different or no longer as strong then it wasn't noticeable such were the arrangements of the songs with the accompaniment. They call it a show.  Partner has been telling colleagues how amazed he was at how good it was. I've been biting my tongue.I hope I have as much energy as Leonard Cohen when I am 74 as he just bounced onto the stage. I'm so pleased I put the effort into getting to a live concert just the once.  It was an awful lot of work but it was really worth it!  Take a look on Youtube you'll find some good performances.  What a master.
