Interesting that Mrs Keen chooses to do an interview with a fluffy lightweight rather than a serious heavyweight political writer.Several have tried to get an interview yet, column inches of 'unavailable for comment' or a 'spokesperson said' seem to prevail.Mrs Keen has always been a political animal, even as a nurse, and there is no shame in that. As long as you are driven for the right reasons. The problem for the Keens has become one of arrogance and pomposity that seems to come with years of power. They are certainly not the first to get like this and won't be the last. Both of them have been nice decent people in the past. But they have really been consumed by the machine and it is a shame that local party members have not stepped in to arrest this sad demise by helping them remain grounded to reality. The problem that has led to the Keens getting a worldwide name for themselves is not the media or the squatter antics, but the failure of them to put matters straight and nip the excesses in the bud. They were exposed as Mr&Mrs Expenses nearly 2 years before any sniff of the latest scandal. The discontent from their constituents and the media, who I believe are quite right to reveal what they and others in this country are doing with the responsibilities they are supposed to mantle for us. And it certainly is not party political, Lib-Dems, Tories and even Sein Fein have been doing it.But they were the first ones flagged up. I'm sure the media would have rather Blair, Brown or Doris Karloff, but no, it turned out to be the almost unknown Keens.Mr and Mrs Keen had 2 years to put this right from a moral point alone. Especially as socialists. They have made no such effort and now all is revealed to prove such. They have let us down, Labour supporters down and in turn they too have been let down by aides and advisors both locally and personally who should have stepped in and at the very least given them a bit of friendly advice.
