Anyone know Ernest?

Ernest William Robinson died 12 February 1954 aged 76. He had been living at 113 The Alders, Hanworth and was a retired Private Chauffer. The informant was his son E.J. Robinson – who is he? Who did Ernest marry? How many children did they have? (and many more questions). Ernest was my Great Grandfather (by his first marriage) and was born in Brighton.Judith

Thank you everyone for help and suggestions. I found a couple of 'possibles' on 192.com and have written to them. (I already have his birth, 1st marriage and death certificates). Also on the 1901/1911 census in Sussex there is an Ernest Robinson who could be my missing great grandfather so that's my next avenue to try. (And No, there isn't any link with Malta more's the pity!).Judith

I sent you a post card, that is why I remembered.  Vanessa is right - since we last spoke the 1911 census has been released and if you have names of the people who moved abroad, you can check for them on the 'lists of passengers' which is on the National archives web site. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

You could try the National Burial Register, Birth, Marriage & Death certificates can be found and purchased from The General Register Office (GRO) at Southport, both have websites. 192.com is also very useful for tracing relatives and remember the 1911 census is now online too.

Hello SarahIt was finding your postcard that prompted me to try again to find Ernest. It would appear that he was living with his son, EJ Robinson, at 113 The Alders, Hanworth. I have no idea if there was a Will. Was he buried if so where would it be? (or was he Cremated!!) He actually died in Ashford Hospital, Stanwell of Heart failure according to the death certificate. His first wife remarried in 1918 as a widow so it was a great surprise to find he had actually outlived her by over 10 years by which time his 3 surviving children (from his first marriage) were spread all over the world.Judith

Hello Judith - I though I remembered you asking this question a while ago but I couldn't find any replies which might have been posted to you.  Doesn't the death certificate give the address of the informant?  Have you traced a will for Ernest?
