Rose and Crown Pub London Rd

Anyone know whats happening with the Pub its been closed a couple months and hey have tried to sell it. Now they have erected boards around the front entrance and Polish Builders are Gutting it.I have herd a couple rumors that its either being Pulled down or turned into Guest House.

Don't think the Bricklayers was listed unless it was a recent listing. I have an old list of all the Brentford properties and it isnt on it.

I think the Bricklayers was also listed. That is why they had to keep the moulding at the top.

I'm not sure that the pub is listed, unfortunately without phoning the Council or English Heritage, it isn't possible to find out - the reason why I don't think it is listed is because I've found a planning application for a new brick wall within the curtilage of the pub back in 2005 and , as far as I can make out, there was no accompanying application for listed building consent.A public house falls with Use Class A5, whereas a hotel or guest house would fall within Use Class C1, so planning permission would be required for this material change of use.  The car wash in the car park is also unauthorised...

In that case, I hope it's not another Firestones job !Demolition at the height of the holiday season before the Council get a chance to react.......

The rumours I heard said Guesthouse. (and was there mention of a restaurant as well ?)I haven't noticed anything about planning applications, so presume that the new use falls into the same kind of category as the pub and doesn't require permissions to change it internally.Must be a lot of history in the building.

I would imagine it will be turned into flats like the Bricklayers and all the rows of shops in Brentford.It does seem strange that we've got more and more people moving to Brentford and less places to go.
