Events at the Musical Museum and elsewhere in TW8

http://www.musicalmuseum.co.uk/page38.htmlThis is for Kath the Moderator's attention really.I've noticed that THE CALENDAR link on the front page doesn't contain any mention of the events being held at the Musical Museum during next next week/month or so.Wouldn't it be good if we supported that unique Brentford attraction and enable visitors to this website..who look at the events list..to know what is going on at the MM too.   A World War II event is being held at the MM this month I've just read..I thought it was only happening at the Kew Steam Museum.  Only the latter venue seems to be advertised on TW8.com.In addition no mention of the Mela in the Calendar ..held last weekend in Brentford's Gunnersbury Park. Unless I'm been looking at the wrong places.

I believe it's the first time that this Classic Rolls Royce Brentford based company has held an Open Day.  They used to be located in Kings Street Hammersmith.  Being the end of the day there were only a few visitors remaining..and I was told some six cars have been sold during the week. The most highly valued car was for sale at about £400,000!! It's a most stunning collection of some 40 cars..some 60 and more years old.When I first arrived I could see action in one of the old Gillette buildings across the road on that corner. I enquired and was invited in!  Wow, what a shock!  My camera vibrated! If only was a proper photographer. It was like Santas's Cave!Well that's all on this thread..about this Open Day. Back to Harlequin Avenue tomorrow hopefully.  Do you know this area of Brentford?

On my way home I decided to do a detour and check out Harlequin Avenue....up by Gillette Corner there... and see if I could manage to take a picture of the new Sky TV building (which must have wonderful views of London!).Passing the derelict rear entrances to the Gillette Building, I came across Frank Dale and Stepsons..the Rolls Royce dealers..and they they were having an Open Day! Lucky Jim!Of course I was able to get access to the building, met the Chairman, Mr Ivor Gordon and his staff..and he invited me to look around ...and hey there..it's that red Roller again!!It's a 1938 Rolls Royce Phantom III with coachwork by Mulliner/Hooper.  There you see it all happens in Brentford..but there's more!

The mighty Wurlitzer..oh to see and hear it in action.I must go there when it's playing. It's only just down the road. Brentford is brilliant!Thanks for the link to the picture Jim. I must say I do enjoy seeing your pictures on Flickr and as a bonus to viewers you take the trouble to fully describe the image. Encore!

I was easing along the Great West Road today..making my way to the Haverfield Estate to dish out some leaflets..which are always gleefully received..when I was overtaken by this red Roller!  Then later I saw another..and then later still another!What was going on in Brentford today? Aren't locals hit by the recession!!

Justin,I've still to experience the pleasure of hearing the Wurlitzer at it's new location..and with all the added speakers you mention.Other events in the Pipeline:That Plaque unveiling at the EXPRESS TAVERN on 1st September should perhaps be added to the Website Calendar. What time is it?  Thanks for having it as a news story on the front page.The Brentford Festival on Sunday 6th September..we mustn't forget!

I've been to a few events there. It is great to see and hear the Wurlitzer rise out of the stage. I had never seen this before and didn't know that it was connected to different speakers and contraptions from different places around the stage.

So the cafe is open to the public..as well as Museum visitors..and one can sit at high stools with views of the river..whilst one tuks into tea and cakes. That's more like it!Have you been to hear the Wurlitzer?
